Ross Harbaugh of the popular Bergonzi String Quartet, winner of the prestigious Naumberg Award and renowned jazz and classical pianist, Paul Posnak blend their extraordinary talents to open the season. Harbaugh, formerly of Harvard University has performed in many of the worlds’s major venues. Harbaugh and Posnak are both distinguished professors at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, Coral Gables. Posnak’s international career as a concert pianist began as a child prodigy with a full scholarship to The Juilliard School at the age of eight. Posnak’s reconstructions, transcriptions and improvisations of the famous George Gershwin and ‘Fats’ Waller taken from the old recordings and radio broadcasts have established him as a world authority.

Ross Harbaugh’s distinguished teachers include Janos Starker, Leonard Rose and Peter Howard in the United States. He undertook study with the distinguished Juilliard Quartet and while at the Paris Conservatory he studied with Andre Navarra. As cellist of the renowned Bergonzi String Quartet the ensemble has become one of South Florida’s most important cultural assets playing worldwide.
